In all the debate about Devon’s health and care services, it is vital to remember that young people need looking after. Through adolescence and young adulthood, they need to know how to stay healthy and where to get help if they want it.
Listening to what young people say about their own health needs is a good way to ensure that local health services respond appropriately. Regular feedback to Healthwatch Devon shows that young people are most concerned about:
• Mental health – including depression, self harm and eating disorders
• Smoking, drugs and alcohol
• Sexual health and pregnancy
You can find out more about these issues by following the links below. These also contain resources that parents, teachers and youth workers can use to spark discussions and learning sessions with young people.
