Young people dealing with issues of sexuality and gender identity can be particularly vulnerable. Our film, Made of Rainbows, features young people from Devon talking about their experiences of coming out as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender. They explore the effects on their mental and emotional wellbeing, and talk frankly about how it feels to try to get help from the health services.
Health professionals can gain valuable insights from the film, and might want to use it as part of training or awareness raising. Teachers and youth workers could use it to spark discussion with groups of young people that they are supporting. Interestingly, many of the issues raised could equally well apply to any young person dealing with the trials and turbulence of adolescence.
