“We ran our first ‘Promoting Activities within Care Settings’ drop in day event on the 28th March at Tiverton Rugby Club which proved to be a great success with over 60 people attending from care agencies, the voluntary sector, NHS, members of the public and both staff and residents from 21 different care homes.
Representatives from organisations including Petroc, Tiverton Museum, Devon Carers, Alzheimer’s society, Devon Partnership Trust, CQC, Devon County Council, Creative Mojo, were on hand to give information and advice.
Activities on the day included free hand massages, a chance to have a go at chair based exercises, arts and crafts and a singalong with therapy dog ‘Frank’ which all proved popular. Money was also raised on the day from refreshments and a Tombola for Age UK Mid Devon who also joined us on the day providing information and support on the services they provide within the local area
Due to the success of this first Tiverton event we are now holding our second event of this kind on Wednesday 18th September at Clyst St Mary Village Hall , Clyst St Mary, Exeter, EX5 1AA from 10 am – 12.30pm.
We are again inviting all care homes and agencies within the area along and local organisations from in and around Exeter to this event and would very much like to have as many representatives join us on the day that have strong links with care settings as well as the many offering various activities.”
